Doc Screenwriter, Chicago (Deferred Pay)

Hey filmmakers! I'm an animator working on an independent documentary project and need a talented mid-level screenwriter. This film explores the hidden history of Chicago's speakeasies, blending archival footage with compelling interviews to uncover untold stories and forgotten characters. We're aiming for a tone that's both historically insightful and narratively engaging, with a touch of noir mystique. Your primary responsibility will be to craft a compelling, research-driven narrative arc from existing interview transcripts and research materials. This includes developing character profiles, outlining scene structures, and writing sharp, concise narration. Experience writing for documentary, particularly historical subjects, is essential. Please provide a reel or portfolio showcasing your best screenwriting work for non-fiction projects. We anticipate a writing period of approximately 6-8 weeks, starting in late May or early June, with flexible hours. This is a work-from-home position primarily, though some in-person meetings in Chicago might be beneficial for collaboration.
