DP for Brooklyn Drama Short
Hey filmmakers, I'm a screenwriter with an independent production looking for a talented Director of Photography for an upcoming short film. It's a character-driven drama set in modern-day Brooklyn, exploring themes of familial pressure and artistic ambition. Think a grounded, intimate feel, capturing the grittiness and beauty of the borough. Visual storytelling is key here; we want those subtle expressions and environmental details to speak volumes. Your main responsibilities will include collaborating closely with me (the writer/director on this project) to establish the visual style, lighting, and camera movement. You'll be lighting and shooting all scenes, ensuring a cohesive and compelling aesthetic throughout. We're looking for someone with a strong eye, a collaborative spirit, and a good understanding of efficient indie filmmaking. Ideally, you'd have your own camera package (e.g., Blackmagic, Sony FX3, etc.) and a basic lighting kit, though we can discuss supplementing with rentals if needed. Please have a reel or some work samples that showcase your narrative cinematography. Experience on previous short films or independent productions is a plus, but if you're passionate and skilled, we want to see your work regardless of your years in the industry. Approximate shoot dates are 3-4 days in late July/early August, mostly evenings and weekends. We're a small, dedicated team and will provide meals and a positive set environment. Compensation is TBD, pending experience and equipment, but we're committed to fair pay.
