Screenwriting for Documentary

Hey filmmakers, I'm Diana, a AD / Producer on an independent production here in Miami, and we're looking for a sharp, experienced Senior Screenwriter to join our team for an upcoming feature documentary. This isn't your typical talking-heads doc; we're exploring a deeply human story around resilience and community in a unique, visually driven way. We need someone who can craft a compelling narrative arc from extensive interview transcripts and archival material, weaving together complex themes into an emotionally resonant script. You'll be responsible for developing the full documentary treatment, outlining acts and sequences, writing narration, and refining interview selections to drive the story forward. This project requires a screenwriter with a proven track record in documentary storytelling, someone who understands how to build tension and create powerful character journeys without relying on fiction. Please have a strong portfolio showcasing your documentary writing experience, ideally with credits on feature-length docs. While specific dates are TBD, we're aiming for a strong push over the next few months, likely starting in late summer. This will be a part-time to full-time commitment once we’re really digging in, with flexible hours. Compensation will be discussed based on your experience and reel.
