Documentary Editor (Mid-level)

Documentary Editing Nashville, TN mid Budget: $2000-3000/week

Hey folks, Andre here, a music composer working on an independent documentary project, and I'm looking for a talented mid-level editor. This film dives into the vibrant, often overlooked Nashville underground music scene, focusing on a few emerging artists. It's a character-driven doc with a raw, authentic tone, aiming to capture the energy and challenges of making art outside the mainstream. I'm really excited about the stories we've gathered. We've got a solid amount of verite footage, interviews, and some performance clips. Your main responsibilities will involve rough cutting, assembling scenes, sound syncing, and working closely with me to shape the narrative. We'll be looking for someone who can craft compelling character arcs and convey the emotional weight of each story through their edits. Ideally, you’ll have your own editing station (Premiere Pro preferred) and a strong portfolio demonstrating experience with documentary storytelling. A reel showcasing your ability to build rhythm and emotion is essential. We're aiming for a roughly 90-minute final cut. Editing would likely start in late July early August, for about 8-10 weeks, with flexible hours but generally 40-50 hours a week. We'll be working out of a dedicated space in Nashville. We'll provide all the raw footage, transcripts, and a detailed outline. Let's make something great together.
