Entry-Level Editor, Independent Doc

Hey folks, Garrett Stone here, a Prop Master on an independent documentary project, looking for an entry-level editor. This is a passion project exploring the unique subculture of competitive eating, focusing on the human stories behind the spectacle. It's got a fun, character-driven tone with moments of unexpected emotional depth. We're looking for someone to help shape our raw footage into a compelling narrative. Key responsibilities include ingesting footage, creating assembly edits, syncing audio, and managing project files. You'll work closely with the director and provide creative input as we find the film's rhythm. You should have your own editing setup (laptop and software, preferably Adobe Premiere Pro) and a willingness to learn on the job. No extensive professional experience needed, but a strong reel or some solid personal projects showing your editing chops are a must. This is a paid gig, 100-200 a day for about 4-6 weeks of work, starting roughly late summer/early fall in Los Angeles. We'll provide lunch and coffee when we're meeting in person.
