Editing for Short Film

Hey Toronto editors! We're putting together a talented crew for an upcoming independent short film and are looking for a passionate entry-level editor to join us. Our project is a character-driven drama with elements of magical realism. It's an intimate story exploring themes of family and memory, with a visually poetic tone. We're aiming for something heartfelt and thought-provoking. Your main responsibilities will include assembling initial cuts, collaborating with the director on pacing and narrative flow, and preparing the project for sound and color post-production. We’re seeking someone who can bring their creative eye to the edit suite, has a strong command of editing software (Premiere Pro preferred), and a keen understanding of storytelling. You don't need professional credits, but a solid student reel or examples of your passion projects are a must. Experience with basic color correction is a plus. While we don't have a specific shoot date set yet, we anticipate principal photography will be a few days in late spring, with editing commencing shortly after. We’re a small, dedicated team, and this is a deferred compensation project (points + deferred payment upon distribution). While we cannot offer immediate payment, it’s an opportunity to gain valuable experience and credit on a promising independent project. We will provide all necessary footage and project files.
