Doc Screenwriter (Paid, NYC)

Documentary Screenwriting New York, NY any Budget: $100-200/day

Looking for a screenwriter to join an independent documentary project, a deep dive into the hidden world of competitive amateur cheese rolling. This isn't just about the sport, it's about the quirky characters, the community, and the surprising drama that unfolds every year. We're looking for someone who can help us craft a compelling narrative, structure our interview footage, and build a cohesive, engaging story from a mountain of fascinating material. Your main responsibilities will involve reviewing existing footage, transcribing key interviews (or overseeing transcription), outlining story arcs, and writing narration and segment transitions. We're open to all experience levels, from burgeoning talent to seasoned pros. The most important thing is a passion for storytelling and a unique voice. This is a part-time, remote position, but we'd love for you to be New York City based for occasional in-person story meetings. Compensation is $100-200 per day, depending on experience. We're aiming for a flexible schedule, with project dates TBD but likely kicking off in the next 4-6 weeks. Please send a brief intro about yourself and any relevant writing samples you might have, even if they're not documentary-specific. Looking forward to hearing from you!
