Gaffer (commercial, non-union)
Hey everyone, Corey Ballard here. I'm putting together a small, non-union crew for an upcoming commercial shoot in Los Angeles, and I'm looking for a skilled Gaffer to join us. This project is for a local beverage brand, aiming for a stylish, high-energy, and visually dynamic feel, think modern aesthetic with a touch of fun. We'll be shooting a mix of product shots and lifestyle scenes, so your lighting expertise will be key to making everything pop. Key responsibilities include collaborating with the DP on lighting plans, setting up and striking all lighting equipment, and ensuring safety on set. We're looking for someone who can work efficiently, adapt to various environments, and bring a creative eye to the lighting design. Experience level isn't as critical as a good attitude and solid understanding of lighting principles, so even if you're newer to the game but have some decent student or indie film Gaffer experience, please reach out. Having basic lighting and grip gear is a plus, but not strictly required for this independent production, as we'll have a package. Please share a reel or examples of your previous Gaffer work if you have them. Shoot dates are currently planned for mid-July, likely 2-3 days, 10-hour days. Specific dates are TBD but will be locked in soon. Craft services and water will be provided. Compensation is deferred, with points on the backend. Looking forward to hearing from you!
