Gaffer for Sci-Fi Pilot (Mexico City)

Shooting a sci-fi pilot in Mexico City, Mexico, about September 2026, and looking for a Gaffer to join our small crew. This is an independent production, a proof of concept for a larger series, with a dark, psychological tone. Think 'Black Mirror' meets 'Children of Men.' We have some really interesting practical effects planned and a tight shooting schedule, so we need someone who's creative and can work efficiently. Key responsibilities include designing and executing lighting setups, managing all grip and electric equipment, and working closely with our DP to achieve the desired visual aesthetic. We're looking for someone with at least one or two previous productions under their belt as a Gaffer or Best Boy, ideally with some experience in genre work. Please send your reel or a link to your previous work. Own kit is a huge plus, especially if it includes some smaller, versatile units, but we will be renting a truck package. This will be a roughly 10-12 day shoot. We'll provide transportation to and from set each day within Mexico City, plus meals and water. Compensation is deferred, percentage of backend, as is standard for many independent pilots. We're aiming to create something truly special here, and are excited to find someone passionate about lighting to help bring it to life.
