Mid-Level Production Designer, Feature Film
Hey there! I'm Amara, a documentary filmmaker working on an independent narrative feature film, and I'm on the hunt for a talented Production Designer. This project is a character-driven drama with elements of magical realism. Think grounded yet visually poetic, exploring themes of memory and connection. It’s an exciting opportunity to build a unique world within a tight budget. We're looking for someone creative who can translate our script's emotional core into compelling visual environments. Your key responsibilities will include collaborating closely with the director to develop the film's aesthetic, designing and overseeing the construction or dressing of sets, managing props and art department materials, and ensuring continuity across scenes. We're seeking someone with a strong portfolio showcasing their design sensibilities, particularly for narrative work. While we're not expecting you to bring a full warehouse of props, your expertise in sourcing, budgeting, and leading a small art department is crucial. We anticipate principal photography for around 4 weeks in late Fall/early Winter here in Chicago, with prep beginning a few weeks prior. This is a passion project for all involved, so compensation is structured as a revenue share partnership. We're looking for someone who believes in the project and is excited to contribute creatively from the ground up.
