Production for Documentary

Our upcoming feature documentary, shooting primarily in the Los Angeles area starting mid-September 2026 for approximately 3-4 weeks, is seeking a talented Camera Operator. This independent production delves into the fascinating world of niche collecting communities, exploring the passion, psychology, and unexpected subcultures that emerge around unique items. We're aiming for a cinematic, observational tone, capturing authentic moments and detailed character studies. We anticipate a 5-day work week, averaging 10-hour days. Key responsibilities include operating a primary camera (likely cinema or mirrorless), framing dynamic and emotionally resonant shots, collaborating closely with the DP and Director, and managing media. This is a hands-on role where adaptability and a keen eye are essential. You will be responsible for your own camera package (minimum 4K cinema camera or high-end mirrorless setup with a solid lens kit), basic lighting, and support gear (tripod, monopod, gimbal). We will provide sound equipment and a sound mixer. Applicants should have 3-5 years of experience in documentary or narrative filmmaking, a strong understanding of visual storytelling, and be comfortable working efficiently with a small crew.
