Production for Short Film

Hey there, Val Gutierrez here. We're looking for a seasoned Gaffer for an upcoming sci-fi short film shooting in Austin. This isn't your typical space opera, it's a character-driven thriller with some really unique visual moments focusing on psychological suspense, so we need someone who can really bring a nuanced lighting approach to the table. Think atmospheric and moody, not flashy. We’re working with a talented DP and director, and we want to create something memorable. Your main responsibilities will include collaborating closely with the DP on lighting design, leading your team, managing all lighting and grip equipment, and ensuring safety on set. We're looking for someone with extensive experience on narrative shorts or features, a strong understanding of various lighting techniques, and the ability to troubleshoot effectively. Please have your own lighting package, including a variety of fixtures (LEDs, HMI, tungsten, etc.), stands, and grip essentials. A reel showcasing your narrative work is a must. Shoot dates are approximately 5-7 days in late July or early August, exact dates TBD. We're expecting 10-12 hour days. We'll be providing meals, craft services, and a comfortable working environment. This is a paid position, $1000-$1500 per day, directly reflecting your senior-level expertise. Let’s make some cool art.
