Senior Locations Manager, Doc Project

Documentary Locations Los Angeles, CA senior Budget: $250/day flat

Hey filmmakers, I'm wearing my scripty hat on an upcoming independent documentary and we're on the hunt for an experienced Locations Manager for our Los Angeles shoots. This project delves into the untold stories of forgotten Hollywood landmarks, blending historical narrative with a contemporary, evocative visual style. We need someone who can secure diverse and challenging locations, from private estates with historical significance to bustling public spaces that once hosted iconic film premieres. Your main responsibilities will include scouting, securing permits, negotiating location fees, and managing all logistics on the ground. We're looking for someone who's not just great at the paperwork, but also has a keen eye for aesthetic and can problem-solve creatively when unexpected challenges arise. You'll work closely with the director and DP to ensure the chosen locations perfectly complement our vision. Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience in locations management, ideally on documentary or indie features. Please provide examples of your previous work and a specific list of locations you've successfully managed. Knowledge of LA's permitting process is essential, and strong negotiation skills are a must. You'll need your own reliable transportation and have a good network of location contacts. Shoot dates are currently slotted for approximately 15-20 days over a 6-week period, starting late summer. Expect 10-hour days. We're providing all necessary insurance and a per diem for meals during shoot days. This is a flat rate of $250/day. Looking forward to hearing from you!
