Sound Designer, Indie Feature (Los Angeles)

Hey everyone, Alex here (2nd AC on a few projects lately). We're gearing up for an independent psychological thriller feature, a really unsettling and character-driven story. Think slow burn suspense with some intense, jarring moments. We're looking for a talented Sound Designer to join our team in Los Angeles. Your main responsibilities will include creating and implementing all sound effects, foley, and ambient soundscapes, working closely with our picture editor and director to establish the film's sonic identity. This isn't just about making things sound good, it's about crafting an immersive and psychologically impactful audio experience. Given this is an entry-level position, we're not expecting years of experience, but a strong reel showcasing your creative sound design work is a must. You should be familiar with industry-standard DAWs and have access to your own basic sound design workstation. We're looking for someone who can bring fresh ideas and a passion for storytelling through sound. Our approximate shoot dates are late summer, early fall, with post-production extending into next year. Expect standard 10-12 hour days during post, though somewhat flexible. We're offering $500-800 per day, depending on experience and the scope of work. We'll provide all necessary project files and assets. This is a great opportunity to gain significant feature credit on a unique project.
