Sound Design for Documentary

Documentary Sound Design Vancouver, BC any Budget: $2000-3000/week

We're gearing up for post-production on an independent documentary feature in Vancouver, starting mid September 2026. This is a character-driven environmental piece, exploring the quiet resilience of a remote coastal community facing climate change. It's an intimate, observational film with moments of profound natural beauty and subtle tension. We need a talented Sound Designer to help shape the film's sonic landscape and bring its emotional depth to life. Your main responsibilities will include creating and implementing all sound effects, ambient tracks, and foley, collaborating closely with the editor and director to ensure the sound design complements the visual storytelling. You'll be working on a roughly 90-minute cut. We're looking for someone with experience in documentary sound, capable of both subtle soundscaping and more dramatic effects where needed. You should have your own software and a well-equipped workstation. Please be ready to share your reel or relevant work samples. This is for approximately 3-4 weeks of full-time work, with some flexibility for hours. Compensation is $2000-3000/week, depending on experience. We'll provide access to all production audio files, a detailed picture lock, and a comfortable working environment in a shared studio space. Fresh perspectives are welcome, regardless of your years in the industry.
