Sr. Production Designer, Documentary Feature

Seeking an experienced Production Designer for an upcoming independent documentary feature based in Los Angeles. This intimate character study explores the fascinating world of underground performance art, blending raw, verite moments with stylized, theatrical sequences. We need someone who can thoughtfully shape environments, from gritty urban landscapes to dreamlike stage sets, to enhance the narrative and emotional impact. You'll be responsible for conceptualizing, sourcing, and overseeing the creation of all visual elements, working closely with the director and cinematography team to achieve a cohesive aesthetic. This includes set dressing, prop management, and potentially overseeing small art department personnel. You should have a strong portfolio demonstrating your ability to create distinctive looks for independent film, ideally with documentary or narrative experience that leans into visual storytelling. Experience working with resourceful budgets and a collaborative spirit are key. We're looking at a flexible shoot schedule over summer 2024, primarily within the LA area. This is a deferred compensation position with a backend percentage offered. While we're operating independently, we aim to provide a creative, supportive environment.
