Production Design for Documentary
Our upcoming independent feature documentary is a compelling exploration of overlooked indigenous art forms in California, and we're seeking a skilled Production Designer to help bring its visual world to life. We're telling a deeply human story with an emphasis on authenticity and textural detail, so your eye for subtle but impactful design will be crucial. You'll be responsible for developing the visual concept with the director, sourcing and managing props and set dressing for interviews and b-roll sequences, and overseeing any necessary location alterations to enhance our storytelling. This is a mid-level position, so we're looking for someone with at least 3-5 years of experience in documentary or narrative film production design. A strong portfolio or reel showcasing your ability to create evocative environments on a disciplined budget is essential. Shoot dates are TBD but generally fall between late August and October, with prep starting mid-summer. We anticipate approximately 10-12 hour days during shooting, with some flexibility for prep work. We’ll provide a production budget for materials and a per-project rate (DOE).
