Script Supervisor POV: New Tech & Efficient Coverage, Help or Hindrance?

I'm Megan Foster, a Script Supervisor, and I've been wrestling with a particular aspect of my job recently, especially with how quickly technology is evolving. We all know the classic goal of directing coverage: get options without overshooting. But with the rise of mirrorless cameras offering incredible flexibility, affordable drones opening up new angles, and even the promise of virtual production, I'm genuinely curious how these tools are impacting this balance.

On my last feature, I noticed the DP and director sometimes leaning into the ease of 'just getting one more angle' because the gear was so nimble. While it provided options, my concern was the time commitment creeping up. Have you found these advances make it easier to achieve efficient, smart coverage, providing those crucial options without adding bloat to the schedule or edit? Or do they, at times, tempt us to over-cover, simply because we can? I'm trying to figure out how best to support the director in maintaining that efficiency.
