Integrating disparate pre-production tools, how do you do it?
Hey fellow filmmakers,
I'm Simone, a 2nd AD currently working on a mid-budget indie feature, and I'm really grappling with our pre-production workflow.
We're using a mix of tools right now: Final Draft for scripting, a communication app for team chats, a separate cloud service for asset sharing, and I'm trying to manage schedules in a spreadsheet program before porting things over to a call sheet generator. It feels like a lot of jumping between windows and manually transferring information, which inevitably leads to missed updates or double-entry.
I've looked at all-in-one solutions like StudioBinder, and they seem great, but getting everyone on board for a full switch isn't always feasible, especially when departments already have their preferred, established software. So, for those of you who aren't fully integrated into one suite, how do you successfully bridge the gaps between your separate tools (scripting, communication, scheduling, asset management) to create a cohesive and efficient pre-production workflow?
