"Metaphorical Breakdown" meets intuition: How do YOU adapt?

Hey everyone,

I'm a 1st AC, usually working on mid-range narratives and commercials, think ARRI ALEXA Mini shoots, sometimes a VENICE 2 for bigger gigs, often with a cart full of Cooke S7/i lenses. I’ve been trying to wrap my head around the 'Metaphorical Breakdown' concept for prep, as it's pitched as this super detailed, analytical process.

My personal style, though, tends to be more intuitive. I visualize blocking, light, and camera movement pretty organically. I'll jot down specific lens choices (like knowing a 32mm will nail a certain feeling) and then refine it. It’s effective for me, but the 'Metaphorical Breakdown' feels like it's asking for a much more structured, almost 'coding' approach to prep.

My question is: For those of you who've used it, how have you adapted the 'Metaphorical Breakdown' process to fit your personal, intuitive style versus this highly structured, analytical approach? Or do you just dive headfirst into the analytical side? Any thoughts on blending the two would be awesome.
