Budget-Friendly LUT Workflow for Indie Features - Seeking Advice!
Hey everyone,
I'm Sarah Chen, a working DP, and I've just wrapped an indie feature shot on an ALEXA 35. We managed to pull off some great shots with SkyPanel S60-Cs and Orbiters, but our post-production budget is, shall we say, 'lean.'
I'm grappling with how to establish a robust LUT pipeline without shelling out for expensive DITs or specialized software licenses when funds are tight. On set, I was baking in a basic show LUT into our monitoring, but now that we're in post, managing CDLs and ensuring consistency across editorial and grading is becoming a headache. I’m looking for efficient ways to handle show LUTs and CDLs from dailies to final grade.
I’ve tried using DaVinci Resolve’s built-in tools for basic LUT generation and some CDL exports, but I'm worried about potential errors or limitations as things progress. How do you all approach building a reliable and streamlined LUT pipeline on a shoe-string budget? What are your go-to strategies for managing these elements effectively without breaking the bank?
