Future of Reference Video Specs & Burn-ins: AI, Cloud, Integrated Systems?
Hey everyone,
I'm a working Sound Editor, often dealing with projects cut on everything from an ALEXA 35 to a KOMODO. I've been thinking a lot about the future of our workflows, especially with how quickly tech is moving.
Historically, we rely on specific reference video specs for sound editorial, framerate, timecode window, and of course, those crucial burn-ins to catch sync issues early. Lately, I'm working more with cloud-based platforms and seeing DITs streamline data even further with systems that integrate camera and sound metadata more tightly.
My question is this: With advances in AI-driven sync, cloud-based editing environments, and increasingly integrated camera/sound systems (like when our MixPre-10 II talks directly to an FX6), how do you see our approach to 'reference video specs for sound' and 'burn-ins that prevent sync disputes' evolving in the next 5-10 years? Are some of the burn-ins we currently demand (e.g., source timecode, camera filename) becoming obsolete, or are new ones emerging as essential due to these tech shifts?
Curious to hear your thoughts.
