1000-nit HDR grading vs. Real-World Consumer TVs - Seeking DP Insights

I'm Tanya Volkov, a DP navigating the HDR landscape. I'm currently on a commercial shoot with an AMIRA, and the post-house is insisting on grading for a 1000-nit reference monitor, which I totally get for the technical standard. We're aiming for a strong HDR delivery.

My concern, and where I'm seeking your collective wisdom, is about the final translation. I've done my own checks at home on various consumer TVs, a few different brands, some older, some newer. And honestly, the look can be pretty inconsistent. Some have wildly different peak nit capabilities, and then there's the proprietary tone mapping each TV manufacturer applies. What looks perfect on the reference can feel crushed in shadows or blown out in highlights on a living room set.

So, when does this 'textbook' 1000-nit grading approach start to fall short, and how do you DPs account for the huge variability in consumer HDR displays in your workflow?
