Navigating HDR/Dolby Vision Costs: How are you managing them?

Hey DPs, Rohan here. I'm finding myself at a crossroads more and more with HDR deliverables, specifically Dolby Vision, and wanted to pick your brains.

I'm currently prepping a medium-budget commercial project, shooting on an ALEXA 35, and the client is pushing for HDR. While I love the look, the added costs are becoming a real headache to justify and incorporate into the budget. We’re looking at monitor rentals, like a high-end X310, running $250-500 a day for the DIT cart, plus the inevitable 3-10% color budget premium for Dolby Vision mastering. Then there's the extra grading time which, of course, isn't free.

I've tried negotiating some of these line items, but it often feels like I'm eating into other essential areas. For those of you regularly delivering HDR, especially Dolby Vision, how are you successfully factoring these significant added costs into your project budgets? Is it just a matter of education for the client, or are there creative ways to absorb some of this without compromising the final product or my profit margins?
