Producers & Overseas Sales: What's the biggest miscalculation?

Hey everyone,

Troy here, working grip. We just wrapped a feature, shot on an ALEXA Mini, mostly used SkyPanel S60-Cs and a couple of M18s for exteriors. Great crew, good vibes. The producers were really banking on some big foreign sales and a decent streaming buyout to make their money back and then some. I've heard similar chatter on a few other sets lately too.

Now, I'm just a grip, I don't deal with the financials, but it seems like this is a recurring theme, and sometimes the numbers don't quite add up to what was promised. I’m genuinely curious about the business side.

From your experience, what's the most common and truly detrimental mistake producers make when they overestimate foreign sales values or streaming buyouts in the current market?
