Integrating Show LUTs & CDLs: Your Workflow Governance?
Hey everyone, I'm a camera operator, Tyler, usually running an AMIRA or the occasional V-RAPTOR XL. I've been diving deeper into color management lately, and the concept of a robust LUT pipeline, especially concerning show LUTs and CDLs, has really piqued my interest. On set, I'm often given a show LUT to bake into monitoring, and sometimes I'm even making minor CDL adjustments myself to help the DIT. But once the footage leaves my monitor, it feels a bit like the Wild West in terms of consistent application and iteration.
For those of you regularly grading, or even just heavily involved in the DIT/post workflow, how do you manage the evolution of your show LUTs and the application of CDLs across an entire project? Do you have a specific system for version control or a clear governance structure that ensures everyone's on the same page from dailies to final grade? I'm trying to figure out a bulletproof method for my own projects to avoid mismatches and streamline the process. What's your secret sauce?
