Impact of Advanced Metadata & AI Logging on Sound Reports, Are We There Yet?

Hey everyone,

As a working sound editor, I'm always looking at ways to streamline workflows. I'm running an indie narrative project soon, mostly shot on an ALEXA Mini, and will be using my 833 with a few MKH 50s. I've been experimenting a bit with the enhanced metadata features on newer recorders and even dabbling with some AI-assisted logging apps on earlier, smaller gigs.

My question is, for those of you on set or in post, how have these recent advancements (better metadata in recorders, AI logging) truly changed your approach to generating 'Production Sound Reports'? More importantly, are you seeing post-production teams effectively leverage this richer data? I’m genuinely curious if the effort on our end translates to tangible benefits down the line, or if we're still largely stuck with the 'standard' report info being the most used. What’s your experience been?
