Steadicam Ops: VP/LED Stages & Blocking - How's it Changed?

Hey everyone,

Omar here, been pushing glass for a while now, mostly narrative and some commercial stuff. I'm rocking an AMIRA usually, sometimes a V-RAPTOR XL if the budget allows. I've done my fair share of green screen in the past, pretty standard stuff, marking out the eyelines, hoping the VFX guys match my moves.

Lately, I've been on a few smaller gigs where they're using LED walls for backgrounds, especially for car work and some interior scenes. It's cool, don't get me wrong. I'm finding myself wanting to interact more with the 'virtual' environment even if it's just a projection. It feels like there's a whole new layer of pre-viz and blocking that's opened up, but also some new challenges.

Back in the day, it was all about tape on the floor and imagination. Now, with a fully realized environment on a SkyPanel X-lit stage, I feel like my approach needs to evolve beyond just hitting marks. How are you all, especially those with significant virtual production experience, fundamentally changing your blocking and pre-visualization process compared to a decade ago? Are you using new tools or techniques for planning your Steadicam moves in these environments?
