Production Design for Pilot

Hey production pros. I'm reaching out on behalf of a director I know, as they're looking for a senior Production Designer for an upcoming pilot. This is an independent production, a dark comedy with surrealist elements, think early Coen Brothers meets a touch of Lynch. It's truly unique, with a script that's going to give a talented designer a lot to play with visually. The story hinges on a character's increasingly bizarre surroundings, so your expertise in creating impactful, character-driven environments is key. We need someone to lead the artistic vision for all scenic elements, set dressing, and props, working closely with the director to bring this distinctive world to life. You'll be responsible for concept development, budgeting, and managing a small art department team. We're looking for someone with significant experience in narrative film, preferably with a strong portfolio showcasing your ability to create distinct and memorable visual styles for character-driven projects. Your reel is a must-see. We're open to candidates with their own go-to contacts for prop houses and rentals, but we can provide a small budget for specific needs. Shoot dates are tentatively scheduled for September in New York City, over approximately 5-7 days. Long days are to be expected, as is typical with pilots. Compensation is deferred, points plus a deferred fee to be discussed. This is a passion project for everyone involved, with serious potential to go to series.
