Production Designer, Brooklyn Short Film (Any Experience)

Hey all, I'm UPMing an exciting independent short film, and we're on the lookout for a talented Production Designer. This is a dramatic, character-driven story with a touch of surrealism, set primarily in a grounded, New York City apartment. We're aiming for a strong visual aesthetic that reflects the protagonist's internal state. Your role will involve translating the director's vision into practical, beautiful sets and props. This means collaborating closely on concepts, sourcing materials, overseeing set dressing, and managing the art department on set. We're particularly interested in someone who can be creative and resourceful on a tight budget. We're open to all experience levels, from students to seasoned pros. What matters most is your portfolio (a reel or portfolio showcasing your design work is a must-have) and a strong understanding of visual storytelling. While we don't expect you to own an entire prop house, any personal art department tools or a keen eye for finding unique items would be a plus. Shoot dates are tentatively scheduled for late July, over 3-4 days in Brooklyn. We'll provide some meals and a great, collaborative environment. This is a deferred pay position, with a commitment to compensating the entire crew once the film secures distribution. It's a fantastic opportunity to build your reel and work on a meaningful project with a dedicated team.
