Production Designer, Independent Short Film (London)

Seeking an experienced Production Designer for an upcoming independent short film in London. This is a character-driven drama with a subtle sci-fi twist, exploring themes of memory and perception. We're looking for someone who can translate complex emotional states into evocative visual environments, working with a modest budget to create impactful, atmospheric sets and props. Your key responsibilities will include collaborating closely with the director and DOP to develop the film's visual language, designing and dressing practical locations, sourcing and constructing props, and managing a small art department team. Creativity and resourcefulness are essential! We're looking for someone with at least 2-3 short film credits as a Production Designer or Art Director, a strong portfolio showcasing your aesthetic versatility, and excellent problem-solving skills. Experience working with resourceful budgets is a plus. While we might have access to some basic tools, having your own kit for set dressing, prop making, and general art department duties would be beneficial. Shoot dates are provisionally set for early/mid-September over 4-5 days, with prep work to begin in August, flexible hours. As an independent production, this is offered on a partnership basis, with a revenue share agreement from film festival winnings and future distribution. This is a great opportunity to contribute to a deeply personal and visually ambitious project.
