Entry-Level Screenwriter (Doc) - Miami

Documentary Screenwriting Miami, FL entry Budget: Meals + copy

Hey filmmakers, I'm an underwater cinematographer working on an exciting new independent documentary project based in Miami, and I'm looking for a passionate, entry-level screenwriter to join our small crew. This film dives deep into the rarely seen bioluminescent wonder of Florida's freshwater springs at night. It's going to be visually stunning, blending natural beauty with a strong environmental conservation message. We're aiming for a tone that's both awe-inspiring and thought-provoking, highlighting the fragility of these unique ecosystems. Your main responsibility will be working closely with me and the director to craft a compelling narrative, developing the script from our existing outlines and research. This includes scripting voice-overs, dialogue for interviews, and shaping the overall story arc. You'll need a knack for storytelling, a keen interest in environmental topics, and a willingness to adapt as the project evolves. No specific gear is required for this role, but a reliable laptop and strong organizational skills are a must. While a prior screenwriting credit is a plus, your enthusiasm and a strong writing sample pitching your vision for a nature documentary are more important. This is a volunteer position, perfect for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in documentary filmmaking. We'll provide meals during any in-person meetings or shoot days, and of course, a copy of the finished film. Project development will be ongoing over the next few months, with potential for some concentrated work sessions. Our approximate shoot dates are still being finalized, but will largely involve night shoots. This is a great opportunity to get a credit on a unique environmental documentary and work with a tight-knit team.
