Screenwriting for Short Film

Hey Austin filmmakers, I'm a screenwriter currently producing a short sci-fi drama, "Stardust Echoes," set to shoot this fall. It's a character-driven piece with a mysterious, contemplative tone, exploring themes of loneliness and connection in a near-future world. We're looking for a skilled Gaffer to join our small, passionate crew for this independent production. Your primary responsibility will be collaborating closely with the Director of Photography to execute the lighting plan, working with our Grip to shape and control light, and managing all electrical aspects on set. You'll need to be proficient with various lighting instruments, diffusion, and understand how to achieve specific moods and visual storytelling through light. Experience with LED fixtures and small-to-medium sized generators is a plus. We don't expect you to bring your own full lighting package, but familiarity with standard gear and the ability to troubleshoot quickly is essential. We anticipate a 3-4 day shoot, likely mid to late October 2024, with some preliminary prep days. We're offering a flat rate of $250 per day. Meals and craft services will be provided on set.
