Seeking a passionate and vision-driven Director for an independent documentary project based in Albuquerque. This film will explore the surprising and often hilarious world of competitive pigeon racing in New Mexico, focusing on the unique bonds between owners and their birds. It's a heartwarming and quirky story that deserves a strong voice. As Director, you'll be responsible for guiding the creative vision, working closely with the small crew to capture compelling interviews and observational footage, and ensuring the story is told authentically. Key responsibilities include interviewing subjects, developing shot lists, and providing directorial feedback to the camera operator. While this is a passion project, we're looking for someone dedicated and enthusiastic. All experience levels are welcome, from seasoned filmmakers to those looking for a significant directing credit on a feature-length doc. A strong storytelling sensibility and leadership skills are a must. Please send along a reel or examples of previous work, even if it's short, to give us a sense of your style. Shoot dates are flexible and will primarily be on weekends over a few months, beginning late spring. This is a volunteer position, but your hard work will result in a fantastic film showcasing a fascinating local subculture.
