Associate Producer, Indp. Doc (NYC)

Documentary Production New York, NY mid Budget: Backend percentage

Hey filmmakers, I'm helping a colleague staff an exciting independent documentary project and we're looking for an Associate Producer. This film explores the underground art scene in 1980s NYC, focusing on the vibrant music and performance communities. It's an intimate, character-driven piece with a raw, archival feel that we think will really resonate. We've got some incredible access. As our Associate Producer, you'd be heavily involved in research, archival outreach, interview coordination, and managing production logistics. We need someone who's super organized, has a keen eye for detail, and isn't afraid to dig deep for that obscure contact or photograph. We're looking for someone with at least 2-3 years of experience in documentary production, specifically in a research or AP role. Strong communication skills are a must, along with a good understanding of archival clearance. While you won't need specific gear, your own laptop and reliable internet are expected. Please share your resume and a brief cover letter outlining your relevant experience, especially any work with historical or archival material. Shoot dates are TBD, likely early fall, but pre-production is starting now. Hours will be flexible initially, becoming more consistent closer to principal photography. This is a deferred compensation role with a backend percentage, ideal for someone passionate about the project and looking to be part of a dedicated team. We're a small production company, so everyone wears many hats.
