Art Department for Short Film

Hey Austin film community! We're seeking an enthusiastic Art Department Assistant for an upcoming independent sci-fi short film. This project is a visually driven story about a lone survivor navigating a surreal, overgrown future. We're aiming for a moody, art-house aesthetic with practical effects and thoughtful set dressing. You'll be helping our Art Director bring this unique vision to life, assisting with set decoration, prop fabrication, and general set duties. Previous experience on a set, even student projects, is a plus, and any skills in crafting, painting, or prop sourcing would be super helpful. While equipment isn't required for this role, a keen eye for detail and a can-do attitude are essential. Get ready for some creative problem-solving! Shoot dates are TBD for late May/early June (approx. 3-4 days), with some prep work beforehand. We're a small, passionate crew and will be providing meals and a copy of the finished film for your reel. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to get hands-on experience in the art department on a cool sci-fi piece.
