Camera Operator for Toronto Short Film

Hey everyone, Raj Patel here, a focus puller in the Toronto scene. We're looking for a talented and enthusiastic Camera Operator for an upcoming independent short film. This is a dramatic thriller with psychological elements, a bit dark and moody, exploring themes of isolation and paranoia. We're aiming for a stylized, visually compelling look that really builds tension. As our Camera Operator, you'll be working closely with the DP to execute their vision, frame shots, and ensure smooth camera movements. You'll be responsible for operating the camera during takes, keeping an eye on focus marks (though I'll be there too!), and maintaining camera stability. We're looking for someone who can anticipate action and contribute creatively to the visual storytelling. We need you to bring your own camera package, preferably a cinema-style camera (Blackmagic, RED, Arri, etc.) with a range of prime and zoom lenses. Experience operating in various lighting conditions is a big plus. Please include a link to your reel or some relevant work when you apply. We are open to all experience levels, even those newer to operating who have a strong eye and good understanding of camera mechanics. Shoot dates are approximately 3-4 days in late October, exact dates TBD, likely 10-12 hour days. We'll provide craft services, lunch, and transportation to and from set if needed within the Toronto area. This is a paid gig, with a rate of $1000-$1500 per day depending on experience and gear.
