Cinematographer for Independent Documentary

Documentary Camera Vancouver, BC mid Budget: Negotiable

Hey everyone, I'm a Grip working on an independent documentary feature here in Vancouver and we're looking for a talented Cinematographer to join our small crew for an engaging project. This doc explores the unique subcultures thriving along the BC coast. We're aiming for a raw, authentic, and visually compelling style, not overly polished, more observational with a strong narrative drive. It's a passion project, but we're serious about creating something impactful. Key responsibilities include collaborating with the director on visual storytelling, executing creative camera work, and overseeing the camera department. We're looking for someone with around 3-5 years of experience in documentary filmmaking. You'll need to be proficient with your own cinema camera package (e.g., Canon C300/C500, Sony FX6/FX9, Blackmagic Pocket/Ursa Mini G2 or similar) and basic lighting. Please include a link to your reel showcasing your documentary work. Shoot dates are flexible but we're generally looking at 8-10 days over the next three months, mostly on weekends or specific weekdays when locations are available. We'll handle travel expenses for location shoots outside of Vancouver and provide a small per diem. Compensation is negotiable and we're committed to fair rates for good work. Looking forward to seeing your reels!
