Directing for Feature Film

An independent production is seeking an experienced Director to helm our upcoming feature film, 'Whispers in the Pines.' This project is a suspenseful psychological drama with a dark, atmospheric tone, exploring themes of isolation and hidden truths in a rural Georgia setting. We're crafting an intimate character study that relies heavily on nuanced performances and strong visual storytelling to build tension. Key responsibilities include collaborating closely with the screenwriter to refine the script, conducting casting sessions, blocking scenes, guiding actor performances, and overseeing all creative aspects of the shoot to achieve the desired artistic vision. You'll be instrumental in translating the script onto the screen, ensuring a cohesive and compelling narrative. Applicants should have at least 2-3 feature film directing credits or extensive experience directing narrative shorts that showcase strong dramatic storytelling. A compelling directing reel demonstrating your aesthetic and ability to elicit powerful performances is required. This is a deferred compensation role. Shooting is anticipated for about 20-25 days, primarily during the second half of October 2026, within standard 10-hour days. Production will provide a full crew, camera, lighting, and sound equipment. Prep work will begin in September 2026.
