Directing for Short Film

Seeking a talented Director to lead our upcoming independent short film production. We need someone ready to jump into pre-production meetings and casting discussions right away. This project is a character-driven, psychological drama exploring themes of memory and grief, with a slightly surreal, melancholic tone. It centers on a woman confronting fragmented memories after a traumatic event. We're looking for a director with a strong visual style and a knack for drawing nuanced performances from actors, bringing a unique perspective to our script. Key responsibilities include collaborating with the producer and cinematographer, guiding the creative vision, leading rehearsals, and directing on set. We're open to directors at any stage of their career, from emerging talents to those with more experience. While we prefer candidates who can secure their own housing and transportation to Toronto, we can offer some guidance if needed. We’re aiming for a 2-day shoot, currently penciled in for mid October 2026. This is a volunteer position, offering full credit and meals on shoot days.
