Director, Feature Doc (Vancouver)
Looking for an experienced Director for an independent, feature-length documentary project. This film explores the impact of AI on creative industries, focusing on artists and their evolving craft. It's a character-driven piece, combining intimate interviews with observational footage, so a sensitive, humanistic approach is key. We're aiming for a thought-provoking yet accessible tone. As Director, you'll be responsible for shaping the project's creative vision, guiding the storytelling, and leading the crew through production and post-production. This includes overseeing interviews, managing narrative arcs, and working closely with the editor to achieve the final cut. We need someone with a strong background in documentary filmmaking, specifically with experience directing feature-length projects. A portfolio demonstrating a clear directorial voice and strong storytelling abilities is essential. Please have your own kit, or access to one, for field pre-production work (e.g., small camera, audio recorder for scouting and preliminary interviews). Shoot dates are flexible but will primarily take place between late summer and early fall 2024, with additional pick-ups into early 2025. This is a partnership opportunity, with compensation structured as a revenue share from distribution. We're a passionate, small crew committed to making a meaningful film. We'll provide necessary production insurance and cover hard costs during principal photography.
