Director, Impactful Feature Doc (Paid)

Documentary Directing Toronto, ON any Budget: $300-500/day

Hey filmmakers, I'm a sound editor working on a truly compelling documentary feature and we're looking for a Director to lead the charge. This isn't your average talking-head doc; it's an immersive, character-driven story exploring the untold histories within Toronto's diverse communities. We've got some incredible access and the potential for real impact. We're looking for someone with a strong visual sensibility, a knack for compelling storytelling, and the ability to connect with subjects authentically. You'll be responsible for creative vision, directing talent, and guiding the overall narrative arc. Experience directing long-form documentaries is a plus, but we're open to passionate, driven individuals with a strong reel demonstrating their directorial strengths. Please send your reel and a brief cover letter outlining your approach to impactful storytelling. We'll provide camera, sound, and lighting packages. We're aiming for principal photography to begin in late summer or early fall, expecting approximately 15-20 shoot days over a few months, with days generally running 10-12 hours. Compensation is $300-500/day, depending on experience. This is an independent production with a dedicated, small crew, aiming for festival premieres and wider distribution.
