Director, Feature Documentary

We're seeking a passionate Director to lead our upcoming independent documentary feature. This project explores the fascinating world of urban foraging in Los Angeles, focusing on the hidden culinary traditions and the community built around them. We're looking for someone with a strong visual storytelling sense and an ability to connect authentically with subjects. Responsibilities include overseeing all creative aspects from pre-production through post, guiding the camera team, conducting interviews, and collaborating closely with the editor. You should have a proven track record in documentary filmmaking, ideally with a reel demonstrating your directing style. While we appreciate experience, we're open to fresh voices; your vision is key. We're looking at principal photography roughly spanning 3-4 weeks in September 2026. This will be primarily a 5-day work week, often with flexible hours to accommodate interview subjects. We will provide all necessary camera, lighting, and sound equipment, as well as production insurance and transportation during shoots. Compensation is $2000-3000 per week, depending on experience.
