Director for Poignant London Short Film (Senior)

We are a small, independent production team seeking a senior-level Director to helm our upcoming dramatic short film. This project is a character-driven piece, a poignant exploration of loss and resilience set against the backdrop of contemporary London. It offers a rich emotional landscape and an opportunity to tell a powerful story through nuanced performances and evocative visuals. As our Director, you will be responsible for translating the script into a compelling visual narrative, guiding the cast, and collaborating closely with all department heads to achieve a cohesive vision. We are looking for someone with a strong artistic voice, excellent communication skills, and a proven ability to deliver impactful storytelling. Your key responsibilities will include creative oversight from pre-production through post-production, script breakdown, shot-listing, rehearsing actors, and directing on set. Applicants should have extensive experience directing short films or similar narrative content, a solid understanding of indie film production workflows, and a strong visual aesthetic. Please submit a reel showcasing your previous directing work. While we have some essential gear covered, experience working with modest budgets and a resourceful approach is highly valued. We anticipate a 1-2 day shoot, likely in the last week of August 2026 or early September 2026, with prep starting immediately. This is a deferred compensation project, offering points in the film.
