Director, Indie Web Series (LA)

Seeking an experienced Director for a dynamic independent web series, filming in Los Angeles. This dark comedy, with a tone reminiscent of early A24 productions, explores the absurdities of modern office culture through a surreal lens. We're looking for someone who can bring a distinctive visual style and a strong narrative vision to elevate our script. You'll be responsible for creative direction, blocking, performance direction for a small cast, and collaborating closely with our small crew. We'll rely on your ability to translate written material into compelling visual storytelling. Key requirements include a minimum of 5 years directing experience, preferably in short-form narrative or web content. You should have a proven track record, demonstrated through a strong directing reel showcasing your ability to handle both comedic timing and nuanced character work. While we have basic camera and lighting packages, directors with experience working efficiently with independent gear setups, or who can bring additional equipment to enhance production value, are highly valued. Prep will begin about 2-3 weeks before shooting, with principal photography scheduled for the second half of October 2026. This will be an intensive 8-day shoot over two weeks, approximately 10-hour days. Production will provide craft services and some equipment; detailed information will be provided during interviews. Compensation is $150-300/day, commensurate with experience.
