Director, Sci-Fi Short Film

Shooting in Chicago, IL, this independent production is seeking a seasoned Director for a thrilling sci-fi short film. We're looking at a 4-day shoot, aiming for the last week of August 2026. This project, a psychological sci-fi exploring themes of isolation and perception, offers a unique opportunity to craft a visually striking and emotionally resonant narrative with a small, dedicated team. We need someone who can bring a strong directorial vision to life, working closely with the Cinematographer and crew to achieve a distinctive aesthetic. Key responsibilities include guiding performances, translating the script effectively to screen, and ensuring the overall artistic integrity of the film. Applicants must have extensive experience directing short films, a strong understanding of visual storytelling, and a compelling reel demonstrating their past work. While we provide essential gear, a Director with a working knowledge of current camera systems and post-production workflows is a plus. We anticipate 10-12 hour days on set. We're providing catering and travel stipends for non-local crew members. This is a paid position, offering $300-500 per day, depending on experience.
