Doc Editor (Passion Project) - Remote OK

Documentary Line Producing 🌍 Remote senior Budget: No pay (passion project)

A powerful independent documentary exploring the hidden histories and personal stories of Miami's Cuban-American jazz scene is seeking a talented Editor. This project delves into the vibrant cultural contributions often overlooked, told through intimate interviews and never-before-seen archival footage. We're looking for someone who can craft a compelling narrative, capture the rhythm of the music, and evoke a strong emotional connection with the audience. This is a passion project driven by a small team dedicated to bringing this important story to life. While the film is primarily set in Miami, remote collaboration is absolutely welcome. Experience with documentary storytelling is essential. Key responsibilities include assembling raw footage, creating a coherent narrative structure, incorporating archival materials, and refining pacing and timing for maximum impact. You'll work closely with the director and our small independent production team to shape the final vision. We require proficiency with professional editing software, a strong understanding of narrative flow, and a keen eye for detail. Please include a link to your reel showcasing previous documentary or long-form editing work. We anticipate needing about 3-4 weeks of focused editing time during the second half of October 2026 and into early November 2026. This is a volunteer position, ideal for someone passionate about cultural documentaries and looking to contribute to a meaningful film for their portfolio. We're aiming to make a festival run. We're looking to make a decision by November 12, 2026, so please reach out soon.
