Entry-Level Doc Director, ABQ Shoot
This job posting is closed.
Hey filmmakers, Luis here. I'm putting out a call for an enthusiastic, entry-level director to lead an upcoming documentary project based in Albuquerque. This isn't your typical doc, we're exploring the quirky, often overlooked subcultures thriving in the Southwest, aiming for a raw, authentic, and character-driven piece. Think indie documentary with a focus on real people telling their own stories, embracing a bit of an observational style. Your main gig will be guiding the story, working closely with subjects, and ensuring we capture compelling footage that aligns with our vision. You'll be involved from pre-production through principal photography, helping shape the narrative and visual style. We're looking for someone who can bring fresh ideas and a strong voice to a project like this. Gear isn't a hang-up, we'll sort out camera and sound packages, but familiarity with a standard doc workflow is a plus. What's absolutely essential is a passion for storytelling, a collaborative spirit, and a reel (even if it's student work or short form content) that shows your directing chops and aesthetic. Experience working with non-actors is also a big plus. Shoot dates are flexible but we're generally looking at early summer for a few concentrated weeks in ABQ. This is an independent production, so it's a partnership, meaning revenue share from any sales or distribution. We'll provide some meals and cover any specific production expenses during the shoot. Let's make something cool together!
