Entry Screenwriter for Brooklyn Short Film

A compelling, character-driven dramatic short film, approximately 15 minutes in length, needs an entry-level screenwriter to help develop and polish the final script. This project explores themes of unexpected connection and urban isolation with a grounded, intimate tone. We’ve locked down the core story and character arcs, and now need a fresh perspective to refine dialogue, strengthen pacing, and ensure thematic consistency. Your primary responsibility will be collaborating with the director on script revisions, contributing ideas, and focusing on character voice. We're looking for someone with a strong command of narrative structure and dialogue, even if professional experience is limited. You should have a portfolio or writing samples (short stories, scenes, previous short film scripts) that showcase your storytelling abilities. No specific gear is required, just a reliable computer and writing software. This is a collaborative position, involving regular virtual meetings and potentially some in-person sessions in Brooklyn, NY. We anticipate about 3 weeks of work, primarily during the second half of September 2026, with flexible hours. This is an independent production offering deferred compensation, ideal for someone looking to build their filmography and gain practical experience.
