Senior Art Director, Feature Documentary (Portland, OR)
Hey Portland crew, I'm Chloe Nystrom (Production Designer), looking for a Senior Art Director for an upcoming feature documentary. This film explores the vibrant, underground Portland music scene of the late 90s, focusing on its DIY ethos and cultural impact. We're aiming for a raw, authentic, and slightly nostalgic aesthetic, using a blend of archival footage and carefully crafted recreations. It's a passion project with a lot of heart, and we need someone who can help translate that spirit into our visual storytelling. You'll be responsible for overseeing set dressing, prop sourcing, and managing a small team of art assistants. We'll be working closely on translating concepts to screen, ensuring consistency across various interview setups and recreation scenes. You should have a strong portfolio demonstrating your experience with period-appropriate design, especially for indie or documentary projects. Experience working with limited budgets and a creative problem-solving mindset are essential. Please have your own basic art kit, but we'll be providing specialty tools and materials. Shoot dates are approximately late September through October, with some prep starting mid-September. Expect 3-4 days a week during active shooting, with some flexibility for prep. This is a deferred pay position, with a commitment to compensation upon project funding and distribution. Looking forward to seeing your work!
